Health and Safety in Healthcare - Course Details

Course intro:

This is the proposed outline for our Health & Safety Awareness course – content of which we are happy to customise to your specific requirements.

We encourage that your policies and procedures be integrated into the course content. This can be discussed in advance with our trainer.

It is our policy to work closely with our clients to ensure that we develop a tailored agenda for each programme so we can add or omit content as advised.

 

Course Content: (Can be modified to suit your requirements)

  • Health & Safety Awareness Healthcare Environment (Reference HIQA, HSA and HSE guidance documents)
  • Discuss the employee responsibilities of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 2005 in Residential Healthcare environment.
  • Evaluate the requirement of the 2007 General Application Regulations to the employee
  • Discuss the employee role in regard Safety Statements and what is contained within.
  • Healthcare specific Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment incl chemical
  • Identify and be aware of the hazards associated with slips, trips & falls, lifting, using equipment, PPE, donning and doffing.
  • Fire Hazard and Fire Prevention
  • COVID-19 impact and Infection prevention and Control with PPE
