People Moving and Handling Instructor (QQI Level 6) Animate Handling - Course Details

This People/Patient Moving and Handling Training, is a full day course to ensure all staff can assist people mobilize. If the theory has been completed online, the practical part will take 4hrs.

On the course completion candidates will be able to:

• Identify hazardous moving and lifting situations.
• Conduct manual handling risk assessments using the TILEO method.
• Apply the eight principles of safe moving and lifting.
• Understand Irish manual handling legislation.
• Learn the basic structure and function of the spine.
• Implement strategies to avoid common manual handling injuries.
• Recognize potential injuries from improper handling.
• Ensure adherence to legal requirements.

1. Communicate the principles & theories related to people handling
2. Demonstrate safe people handling skills
3. Full overview of all People Moving Equipment
4. Holistic review of all areas for Animate handling in care or education
5. Use effective presentation skills to deliver people handling instruction
6. Provide people handling instruction to learners who have varying levels of competence

We also run an Instructor QQI Level 6 training course which is a 4 Day public programme, designed to provide the learner with the knowledge, skills and competence to effectively design and deliver patient handling instruction in the workplace.

Completing Manual Handling Instructor (QQI Level 6) training prior to attending this course is a pre-requisite and proof is required.
